thr chats to dizzy planet

Hey Dizzy's how’s it going?

Thanks for agreeing to answer some questions for us at THR leading up to Saturdays show at 459 bar.

To start it off would you like to introduce everyone in the band and how dizzy planet was formed?

Dizzy Planet started out as a two-piece in 2018 with Bradley Campbell on guitar and Carlota Rivera on drums. After a few years of gigging and recording we decided that the sound required some more depth. Hayley Wellington soon joined in on bass and introduced an expressive and melodic structure to the sound.

You have been around the music scene for a little while now, I think the first time I saw you three was at a Yardstock in Fremantle circa 2022. For me that was a great show, and a great first taste of what your music is. If you had to pick a favourite live performance/show what would it be?

Recently we played to a very fun and enthusiastic crowd at The Bird. The crowd gave us energy to play more frenetically than usual, and it really felt like a two-way exchange. We are continuing to develop our live performance and feel like it’s what we want people to know us for.

You have had a string of releases over the last few years with your EP "You Don't Know If I'm Going To Change" in 2022, along with your EP "Back Break Pedal" released later that year, and now with your EP "Shellshock" earlier this year. Are you working on any more music at the moment ?

We are currently recording a new single. We like to try new approaches in recording, we have been trying to capture the live energy and aggression in a recorded track. In this new single we are definitely trying something new. The drums have already been tracked with José López at Sueña studio in Guatemala. Guitars, bass and vocals will all be recorded together so we can capture some live energy. After the next single we will go back into finishing some new songs. We have hundreds of ideas to work on – just need the time!

Lastly, leading up to Saturday’s show at 459 bar - do you have any final words you would like to share?

We are so excited to join Marceline, Dead Crow and Twin Bloom on stage at 459 Bar! It’s an awesome lineup, and we are really excited to be sharing the stage with such high calibre acts. We love the way Toxic Heart Records is supporting local bands in the heavy scene. There is so much talent and the fact that they are providing a place for artists and audiences to find each other is so important, and it’s also great for the Perth music scene. See you all on the 2nd we can’t wait!!
